Meet Rachael, a Surrey College student
Tell us a bit about yourself
Hi, I’m Rachael. I am 17 years old and am studying for my A-levels in Biology, Psychology, and Business Studies at Godalming Sixth Form College.
What interested you in doing work experience at The ai Corporation?
I wanted to learn more about marketing and how a business operates, as well as what it’s like to work in an office and as part of a team. The environment also seemed extremely positive and like a great place to work.
What have you done during your week with ai? What have you enjoyed the most?
I had a really interesting programme that allowed me to spend time with lots of different teams, including HR, Marketing, Finance, Innovation, Project Management, Alert Management and Sales.
During my time at ai, I created presentations on Marketing and Human Resources and learnt about the different departments within the business. I created a collage of pictures to display the highlights of Collaboration Week and the teams working together. I most enjoyed marketing and learning about the brand and how important the brand image is.
What have you learned that you will take back to your educational life?
I learned that communication is very important for good cohesion within the business and within daily life. Strong teamwork is also good to make sure things work as best as they can. I hope to apply this in my time and college and beyond.
What surprised you about your work experience?
I discovered an interest in marketing and that I would like to pursue it further into a degree level as I really enjoyed learning how important it is for a business to get lots of market interaction and to help look for and secure new customers.
Have your career aspirations changed as a result of your work experience?
My work experience at ai has made me certain that I would like to do a degree in Business Management at University, as I really enjoyed working with a team of people and in an office. The environment was extremely positive and a great working environment. Thank you for having me, and I look forward to taking my learnings forward and maybe coming back to work at some stage!
