The ai Corporation

Meet Alex Plume - Programme Manager

Tell us about your journey with ai and what made you choose this area of work?

My journey with The ai Corporation started back in 2017 when I joined the Support Team as an L1 Support Analyst. This gave me great insight into the different products we develop at ai, and the range of customers that we support. It also allowed me to collaborate with multiple teams and subject matter experts, drawing from their expertise to address the customer issues effectively.

I then moved into the Alert Management team, where I learnt to use the aiRiskNet® fraud solution as a user on behalf of our clients. I reviewed the data to make informed decisions, which significantly enhanced my analytical skills and was extremely valuable as it gave me a chance to see the product from a different perspective. There are aspects from this experience that I’ve always tried to keep in mind in my future roles.

Following this, I joined the Project Management team. I’ve always been drawn to roles that connect people, processes, and technology, and programme management gave me the perfect platform to do just that. Today, I focus on the aiRiskNet® solution, where I help drive delivery and ensure we’re building a product that aligns with the needs of our clients, now and in the future.

How has your role changed over the years at ai ?

My role has evolved from hands-on support with our clients to strategic programme oversight. Initially, I focused on resolving incidents and improving alert workflows. Now, I am more involved in planning, stakeholder engagement, and product delivery. The shift has been both challenging and rewarding, providing me with a broader perspective on how project management impacts our business and ensures a smooth and seamless experience for our clients.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me would start with joining a variety of team stand-ups to get the latest updates and information from various teams. I then spend time reviewing project timelines, coordinating with developers and analysts, and ensuring initiatives are progressing smoothly. There’s also a fair bit of problem-solving, whether it’s unblocking a delivery issue or refining a process.

What is your team like?

Collaborative, driven, and supportive. I’m fortunate to work with a diverse range of teams, both within our PMO team and in virtual project teams. Whether it’s a quick Teams chat or a deep-dive session, there’s a strong sense of shared ownership. We celebrate wins together and tackle challenges as a unit.

How do you ensure you keep your training and knowledge up to date?

Through formal training, I ensure that I’m up to speed with any latest developments and methodologies. We also have company-led sessions from both internal and external peers, which keep me informed about emerging trends and ensure my industry knowledge remains up to date.

What is the best part about your job?

The best part of my job is being able to take a project from an initial concept with a client and see this evolve into a solution that is providing value and having an impact in the real world.

What is your proudest moment at ai so far?

My proudest moment so far has been being a part of the team driving the adoption of Agile methodology within the aiRiskNet® team to become faster, more predictable & reliable in meeting both client and internal stakeholder requirements. This improvement required teamwork and determination throughout the team to achieve the desired results.
